Welcome! Come On In…

by Starla J. King on August 12, 2010

<opening the door wide, grinning broadly>  Ah, hello there!  Do step inside and sit for a moment!  Make yourself at home.  I’ll be right there… just need to hang the “come on in” sign up outside the door for the next visitors.

<returning> Ok, then…    as you can see, this blog room is so new the refurbished wood floors are still shiny.  Here, let me scuff it up a bit so you can relax.  There… better?  Help yourselves to the cupcakes (hope you like red velvet).

So, you’re probably wondering what this place is all about, yes?   Well, it’s mostly an open space just to the side of my writing room.   As a writer, I need to keep filling my creative well so my words don’t dry up…so why not bring that well-filling stuff into a place where we can all benefit?

This space will be where we share a myriad of things, all which provide at least one of the following:

  • connection
  • inspiration
  • education
  • encouragement
  • entertainment

We will often be highlighting someone else rather than ourselves.  (I already have my own blog, Starla’s Word Stew, to talk about my own stuff… one is plenty).   People who are out there making a difference in unique ways that we can apply to our own regular daily lives.

One VERY important point — ALL are welcome here.  Regardless of religion, ethnicity, gender, life goals, sexual orientation, political views, and all the other things that so often keep people away from each other.   Do bring all of that here with you, but try to allow others to do the same.  Deal?

Unfortunately, I must now step away for a bit, but please feel free to hang out as long as you’d like.     Perhaps you could introduce yourself?  A quick comment below will do.

Oh, and if you do return tomorrow, how about some warm chocolate chip cookies?

This place is sooooo cozy AND you’re serving red velvet cupcakes….perfect!

As way of introduction, I’m a retired US Govie, living in Ft Myers, Fl enjoying my family and wide circle of friends.

OwL is intriguing and offers the possibility for many to make a lasting difference in this world while having lots of fun. Whatta concept! I’ll be coming back again and again (and not just for the goodies.)

Kudos to Starla and Sandy. They are brave, bold, creative and very generous. I’m happy and honored to know them.
