Shadow Art

by Starla J. King on January 26, 2012

Some days, you look at life and it just feels like scribbles and mess and tangles and knots.

The rain ruined your shoes, snarled traffic, and destroyed one of your best hair days yet.

The sun fried your shoulders into little blistery pockets of ouch, gave you a migraine, and chapped the h**l outta your lips.

The perfect opportunity disappeared before your very eyes.

The coffee too weak, the tea too strong, the honey crystallized, the creamer curdled.

Yuck.

Or… wait…

Look at the photo below.  From one perspective, a bunch of twisted up nonsense, but from another?  Actual words.  Something that makes perfect sense.  Something that jolts your mind awake.

ART. BEAUTY.  WHOA.

You know….

Raindrops have a reflective and soothing quality as they stream down a window at night.

And with a little protection, sun tucks vitamins through your skin, signals mood boosts through your eyes, and sparkles like diamonds off well-oiled lips.

And I bet that “perfect”opportunity really wasn’t.

And surprisingly, water is actually quite a pleasing choice of beverage.

Shadow art: the oft-hidden beauty on the other side of our mess and confusion and the junk of life.

When you look at it that way, we’re all artists. Life is our medium. We are the camera.

Go… find your shadows… they just might be the most amazing thing you’ve seen yet.

Your words are soooooo motivating! As I begin working on our tax returns today I will be looking for the shadows. Like, maybe we will get a refund…. Thank you for a great send off to a tedious chore.

Mary! In your sunshine state, you have SOooooo many opportunities to see the literal shadows… and be reminded of the beauty in your figurative shadows.

May your shadows today be full of dollar signs! XO

Angel… I know, right?!?! The pic just blew me away.

I can’t wait to see what your shadow art is today. Maybe you’ll find another piece for your mosaic.
