Kneel and kiss the ground

“Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground.”

-Rumi

Intergenerational Prayer by Starla J. King

Mom's Hand & Mine

Rumi gets Thanksgiving.

You see it threaded through line after line of his poetry, the deep-seeded gratitude so intense that it simply HAS to be expressed.  The appreciation so strong that we drop to our knees and kiss the ground.

When was the last time you stepped so deeply into your gratitude that it brought you to your knees?

You can do that today. And any day.

Because the intensity of your gratitude doesn’t depend on the size of the “gift” (in the broadest sense of the word), it depends on the flexibility of your heart… and your willingness to let the gratitude rise up from the deepest, most purely golden core of you.

“Stop the words now.
Open the window in the center of your chest
and let the spirits fly in and out.”
– Rumi

Then let gratitude melt you to your knees … so together we can kiss the ground.

Ah, Shannon, such a treat to see you here! I too loved running into the reminder to open the window…

The pic of Mom and me has turned out to be more meaningful than I ever could have imagined. I took it on a whim a couple years ago because I have always loved that my hands look just like hers. And now since her death last year, this pic always makes my heart grin. And offer gratitude.

Happy Thanksgiving, Dear Shannon.

You know I love me some Rumi… and I so love this post. This is what the gratitude stuff is all about…

“Because the intensity of your gratitude doesn’t depend on the size of the “gift” (in the broadest sense of the word), it depends on the flexibility of your heart… and your willingness to let the gratitude rise up from the deepest, most purely golden core of you.”

Yes.

What a cool experience to have your own words echoed back to you… in someone else’s “voice” and “handwriting” … ! I figured you’d GET this post, Angel. LOVE that. 🙂
