Hug Your Piñata

by Starla J. King on November 5, 2015

He was a little tyke — the kid in the video — just a few years old, the stick longer than he was tall as he tapped it against the bear-shaped piñata hanging in front of him.

Tap.
Tap.

The piñata barely swings, the contact so light.

Tap.

And then he drops the stick, walks to the piñata…

and hugs it.

That’s the kid I want to be.

The world I want to live in.

The one where we can gently pick our candy from a dish instead of having to beat the crap out of the container first.

And yes, the candy is a metaphor.
